Upgrade guide · Barrackpore
If your laptop is under about five years old and the screen, keyboard and hinges are fine, an SSD/RAM upgrade is usually the cheaper way to make it fast again. If the motherboard, GPU or display is failing, a new laptop is often the better spend.
| Factor | SSD/RAM upgrade | New laptop |
|---|---|---|
| Typical cost | ₹999 SSD labour + drive at cost; ₹399 RAM labour + module at cost | ₹35,000+ for a comparable model |
| Speed gain | Large: boot, apps and file copy | Large, plus a newer CPU |
| Risk | Low if the laptop is otherwise healthy | Data migration and setup time |
| Warranty | 90-day labour; part warranty | Brand warranty |
| Lifespan | Extends a healthy laptop by 2–4 years | New 3–5 year runway |
We check the drive interface (SATA or NVMe), RAM type and slot count, then quote the part at cost +10% and the labour. Data is migrated to the new drive; the old drive can be returned or used as a backup. Typical parts: 8GB DDR4 ₹1,500–₹1,900; 500GB NVMe ₹2,800–₹3,500 (checked October 2026).
Send the model and the symptom on WhatsApp. You get a diagnosis, the part cost and the final price before chargeable work starts. Bench diagnosis is ₹299 and is waived when you approve the repair.
