Laptop Plugged In but Not Charging: Do’s and Don’ts

If your laptop is plugged in but not charging, check the power cord and socket.

What to do

1. DO

   Do check the power cord and adapter for damage

   A damaged cord or adapter can prevent charging

   Look for fraying or bent pins.

   Do note the charging LED behavior

   The LED can indicate a specific issue

   Is it blinking or steady?

   Do report whether the battery is swollen

   A swollen battery requires special handling

   Check for a bulge or uneven shape.

   Do request a charger, port, and battery check

   A thorough check can identify the root cause

   Ask about the check process.

   Do get a written quote before chargeable work

   Verify it's in writing.

What not to do
