Laptop Won't Start — Do These 3 Things Before the Shop
Thing 1: The power drain reset
Disconnect the charger. Remove the battery if removable. Hold the power button for 30 full seconds. Reconnect only the charger. Press power. This resets the embedded controller and fixes the "won't start after update" problem.
Thing 2: The external display test
Connect an HDMI or VGA monitor. Press the display toggle key (Fn+F4, F5, F7 or F8). If the external screen shows your desktop, the laptop is running but the built-in screen is faulty.
Thing 3: The charger swap test
If you can borrow a charger from the same brand (HP, Dell, Lenovo), try it. If the laptop starts with a borrowed charger, your charger is the problem, not the laptop.
